In Times of
Conflict
O God, you have bound us together in a common life.
Help
us, in the midst of our struggles for justice and truth,
to
confront one another without hatred or bitterness,
and to
work together with mutual forebearance and respect;
through
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

On
God's Side
The reality of a Big God means that we are all
minorities in
God's eyes…. In order for dialogue among
different
faiths to ever happen, we must all be willing to
concede that
none of us alone can ever know as much as all of us
together.
We must move the emphasis from
claiming that God is on our side to worrying more
about
being on God's side of compassion, grace, justice,
acceptance, and love.

A Peacemaking Practice
It can be the very practice of writing that moves us
to
reconciliation and the ability to embrace those who
have
seemed so separate from us. The following passages

helpful in getting you started.

Truth Beyond Understanding
As hard as we try we can never achieve a monopoly
on
Truth. The Truth beyond our understanding is that
we share
the same Creator with that fellow with whom we
might
passionately disagree.
This means that
when there
is disagreement and blood begins to boil, although it
is
extremely hard we must always respect the living
spirit
within our opponent. This is when we turn to God for
help.
