Throughout Holy Scriptures, the presence of God is identified
as the bread that gives life to the soul. Jesus identifies
himself as "the bread that comes down from heaven." In
short, the bread we're asking for is the presence of God that
enters, feeds and sustains us with life itself.
Having God at our center is the Leaven that will raise our
hardened hearts so that we will do everything in our power
to make sure that everyone has enough to eat. As we
say, "Give us today our daily bread," what we're asking is
that God would enter each day into our very being, giving us
the Spirit of peace and power, without which there is no life
worth living.

The Bread and the Wine
The bread we receive becomes more than bread, and the
wine poured out becomes more than wine. Through the
mysterious power of faith they become Christ for us in a way
that's every bit as real as the wheat and the grape from
which they come…

Nourishment for the Road
Prayer is food for the journey.…There are no experts
on prayer, only beginners. It is not something we learn in a
book, but something we must learn by doing over and over
again…a practice we must adjust as our journey
continues.

by Kristen Johnson Ingram

transforming simple acts like hearing music, looking at shafts
of sunlight, or walking in the woods into acts of prayer that
celebrate Godís presence in everyday life.
